Sunday was freezing, but also sunny. It was one of those cold days when the sun hits the snow and makes everything bright. And you most definitely need sunglasses. But then I got to Julie's.

I come in with some of my mobile studio equipment and immediately feel the warmth. Her house is full of color, plants and cats. It's full of life.

I meet her husband Barry, who is an artist with a Minneapolis studio (Deeper Arts), and he's asking what can he do to help.

I also meet Violet, Julie's youngest of 5 kids. She's friendly and confident, and, if you know Julie, you also know this is very expected. Violet offers to help too.

I met Julie at WIN, a networking group for women in business. We made a connection right away, and after a few networking meetings, we decided to work together.

So, after I come in with all my gear and meet everyone, I scout her house and brainstorm some ideas. To get started, we decide on creating a food display (all credits to Barry) to illustrate what she does.

Julie is a holistic nutrition coach with unbelievably glowing and smooth skin. Just to let you in on a little secret, she does not wear makeup - neither wore it for this session (aside from mascara, light eyeliner and lipstick, at my request) and these pictures have not been edited.

I always try to work with my client's natural beauty, and recommend that they have a professional makeup artist enhance their look, but, for Julie, I thought it was extra important to show her bare face and portray how she is the best ad for the work she does.

While Julie changed, I grabbed a few pictures of my little helper, the beautiful strawberry-blond Violet.
