Cool High School Senior Photo Session in Minneapolis with LauraJust recently I saw this TV commercial about how your style says - in an instant - things you would take hours to convey, if solely speaking. The commercial was funny and way over the top, but it got the point across. I always encourage my clients to wear something timeless for when the pictures show up at their wedding - or if they have the hopes of being proud and displaying them on their walls for generations to come. While it's fun to wear trendy clothes and follow fashion, the downside is that those really age a photo and may end up being the star of the shot, instead of the person. See Laura, for example. When I spotted her sitting on a bench just outside the St. Anthony Main Theater, I first noticed how classic and pretty she looked: Blue eyes, golden locks, a hint of makeup and a shy smile. She looked so fresh and genuine, comfortable in her own skin (which is a big deal, seriously. When I photograph high school seniors, I remember my dreams and ideals when I was that age - and it hasn't been that long - and I was nowhere near as confident and proud as some of the girls I meet! It is so fantastic to see that! Kudos to them and their parents!) Then I saw her clothes: she had on the coolest sneakers, perfect fitting jeans and an all-american white top. She was exactly in touch with her age, style and trend, full of personality and timeless. Just what the doctor (or the photographer) ordered. We started out photographing by this entrance to a trail, where we found some cool foliage, amazing light and some colorful graffiti. This was a new location for me, and, with the addition of Laura's captivating presence, I felt extra creative. We explored the surroundings and got the beautiful shots you can see below. She had a few different outfits that complemented our second scenario perfectly: as we moved close to the Stone Arch Bridge, her understated style allowed her to be the main focus of all pictures, just as she should. I absolutely enjoyed meeting and photographing you, Laura. You have inspired me to be extra creative and I love the pictures we came up with. Thank you, dear! Wish you all my best!
