Lori and Britty's Photo Session

June 20, 2013  •  2 Comments

After postponing our shoot due to the crazy snowfall we had in mid-may (!), I get to Lori's in the afternoon, after a 30min drive. She greets me from the outside, as she arrives from walking Mia - Britty's cute pooch. Her hair is loose and vibrant, ready for our shoot. She invites me in and helps me with my equipment. Britty is coming down the stairs and let's out a shy "hi". We shake hands and I can't help but notice how pretty she is.

Once inside, I noticed that Lori's living room is what you picture when you think "home": it's warm, welcoming and very tranquil. She asks if I would like a tour, and because I am extremely nosy, I promptly say yes. We walk around and see the large and open rooms, the soft light coming in from all the windows. The house is way bigger than it looks from the outside. Yearly pictures of Britty decorate one of the walls. I stop to observe how she matured from a little girl into a beautiful young woman...

Later, we continue by walking into the master bedroom, but get carried away by the fact that we are going to select their outfits and jewelry together. We started: Lori pulls out a professional suit, two bright shirts and a lacy dress. The dress catches my eye - I love it! We decide it needs an accessory and after a few tryouts, we opt for a beautiful beaded pearl necklace.

We move on to Britty's outfit. We look at some options and decide on a fun top and girly necklace for one of the shots. Ladies ready, we head outside. There's a light breeze passing us by, the clouds are filtering the light just right and, with nothing else to add to their beauty, we start shooting.

We tried out poses, clothes, all kinds of different ideas, and, once done, as I pack, I get an irrecusable invitation: dinner. And so we all sat down to enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal. We talk and laugh and look through Britty's portfolio (she's a recent Graphic Design grad). I then learned how responsible and caring she is, and how obviously proud Lori is of her.

When these were out on the sneak peek posts I shared on Facebook, the feedback was amazing. I have to say, yes, I love these shots, but they show more than what you first see. They show the people behind the photo: their personalities, their energy, and that's why these were so complimented by Lori's family and friends. She is an admirable woman.

Thanks for letting me photograph your beautiful smile, Lori. You're awesome. :)
