This is how much fun my job is: I get to hang out with the coolest kids, have mind-blowing conversations and make friends like this (snap fingers). Meet Kenzie, a freshly-turned 5 year old with soft blond curls and a keen ability to overcome shyness in 5 seconds.

A draw of luck brought us together: Kenzie's mom, Katie, came to find me after I photographed the kids of two of her friends (and I had no idea!) She then entered my New Year, New Website, New Giveaway! earlier this year and won! We talked to arrange the details and decided to meet in Silverwood Park a few weeks ago.

I got there early and sat down by the parking lot. Later, I watched from a distance as this little girl comes closer, holding her mom's hand, wearing a blue dress and her hair lightly blowing in the breeze. We introduced ourselves and, as I said hi to Kenzie, she buried her face in the quickest shy moment I have ever witnessed. I kept on talking to her and within a few steps towards our first location, I asked her if I could hold her hand. To my surprise, she said yes and began to tell me all about how she had spent the day with her mom and about a friend she played with recently. 

We explored the park while Kenzie twirled in her dress and told us stories. You can see some images of our fun photo session below.

Needless to say, I loved photographing and specially meeting this sweet little girl. I hope I get to see her from time to time.
