Date for Life is a fundraiser event that benefits the Children's Cancer Research Fund and takes place in Minneapolis. It involves the auction of dates with bachelors and bachelorettes with fun and exciting plans for a night out on the town. It was created in memory of Katie Jurek, who showed implacable strength and courage while battling cancer as a teenager. It moved me to know how Katie touched the lives of many, and, even though I did not have the chance to meet her, I was honored when I was called in to donate my time and photos to this cause.

And so, last week, Chris (my hubby and assistant) and I went out to the Graves 601 Hotel (Bradstreet Craftshouse) armed with tons of equipment to photograph head shots of the bachelors and bachelorettes who will be participating in the date auction. The night was fun and full of interesting people. It was great to meet some of them and hear first-hand what their dates are going to be like. I am very excited to also be covering the actual event on February 7th, and to showcase the winners with their soon-to-be dates.
